How to Date a Single Mom
A single mom is a bit harder to date than most.
While they are more desirable for many reasons, it also gets complicated because of her children.
Dealing with her children can be a challenge. Not only do you have to cater to her, but you also have to make sure her kids like you. Because if they don’t, your relationship with the mother will be affected.
What You Need to Know When You Date Her
1. Her kids are first priority, not you
If her kids don’t have a babysitter for the night, there is no way you’re getting a date.
Because her kids are almost always on her mind, she will likely refuse to go on a date if there isn’t anyone to watch over them. You’ll have to look for available and capable babysitters first before you actually plan a date.
If you want to be nice, you can offer to pay for the babysitter. She may appreciate that nice gesture.
2. Your world will be forced to revolve around her kids too
As stated above, you won’t be able to get a date with her without thinking about her kids first. You’ll also find yourself planning for the kids in the long run, even if you don’t have a date with her.
Making the kids happy will guarantee her happiness and satisfaction.
Also, don’t be surprised if you start to love the kids as your own later on.
3. You won’t have many private moments with her
Because of the children, you might have to think twice before you plan something special with her. Or at the very least, plan it with the possibility of the kids coming along.
If you decide to live together, expect your more intimate moments to be frequently interrupted. There will be days that you’ll have to share the bed with her children. A tiny third wheel is a given when you’re dating a single mom.
4. Expect some of your dates to get canceled
Sometimes your dates will be interrupted by the kids. Emergency situations can’t be avoided, and you can’t just tell her to stop being a mom. She will be thinking about them, even as you spend time getting to know each other in a restaurant.
Even in certain situations where you two are already in bed, there may be instances where you two have to stop. She might get a call about her kids where she is required to leave. So don’t pressure her into staying if she does.
Be supportive whenever your dates get interrupted by her kids. If you’re unhappy about the interruption, imagine what she could be feeling. Don’t expect her to choose you over her children.
5. If her kids don’t like you, your dating life will be hard
Even if she says she loves you no matter what her children feel, their dislike for you will still get in the way.
If a child truly doesn’t like you, even if you’re someone who’s good with kids, then there’s nothing you can do except be patient.
Be good to them because if they like you, there’s a guarantee she will end up marrying you.
Dating Her Takes Commitment
You should know that single moms don’t date to mess around.
Go into it with the possibility of a lifetime commitment. If you truly love her, those kids might end up being yours as well.
